Kevin Viner is one of Cornwall's best kept secrets!
Kevin is a winner of some of Britain’s renowned professional cooking competitions including UK National Chef of the Year in 1998 and the AA’s Chef of the Year in 1999, voted by his peers and colleague chefs throughout the trade. He was also nominated as one of the 'Top ten chefs of the last decade' by the A.A.
Kevin was chef / proprietor of Pennypots Restaurant, the first Michelin starred restaurant in Cornwall, also awarded 3 rosettes by the AA, and highly rated in all major food guides.
He is now Executive Chef of Viners Bar & Restaurant situated at Summercourt in Cornwall, close to St Austell, Newquay and Truro. Awarded a ‘Bib Gourmand’ by the Michelin Guide in 2010, Viners is an informal restaurant offering casual dining at affordable prices.
Kevin was a member of the British Team of Chefs that completed and won Gold medals in the World Culinary Olympics held in Frankfurt, and is also a holder of numerous prestige awards won at Salon Culinaires throughout Europe and North America.
He now judges for national and international salons. In January 2009 and again in 2010 Kevin was invited to act as Chairman of Judges at Hospitality, the country’s leading catering exhibition. Kevin also devotes considerable time and effort coaching both young, budding chefs, and salon teams in the finer skills of top class food production.
